Two men, the same fragility. This is how everything begins in “Sobre cómo un hombre heterosexual le rompe el corazón a otro”: “with the most beautiful wound and the sound that wound makes”.
Seated on a chair, the director puts himself on stage to tell a story he has never been able to finish. He speaks of Gael, his alter ego, and of Damián, a friend who tried to hurt the woman Gael loved.
The story begins as a theatrical reconstruction, but gradually turns into an act of atonement in which the director stops speaking about “them” and begins to speak about himself. The stage bears witness to the wound that remains within him, revealing it as yet another consequence. The production does not seek to redeem anyone. It exposes the wound: an attempted sexual assault, the aggressor’s embrace, the birth of violence that cannot be erased, and the question of the tenderness one man can see in another’s eyes.
“Sobre cómo un hombre heterosexual le rompe el corazón a otro” is a unique theatre project born of a collaboration between two independent Colombian companies: Radio Escénica de Colombia (REC) from Medellín and Teatro Estudio 87 from Bogotá.
The production is the result of an artistic encounter between Felipe Álvarez and Moisés Ballesteros, who brought together their experience and distinct theatrical languages to create a shared story based on an original text by Ballesteros.
It is a meeting of two different sensibilities: on the one hand, experimental theatre of sound, voice and silence; on the other, text-based theatre that takes a close look at contemporary humanity and the world around it.
The project was created to mark Radio Escénica’s fifth anniversary and became more than an anniversary production. It is proof that theatre knows no boundaries, and that true creative energy is born of encounters, dialogue and the courage to explore new forms.
Discover contemporary Colombian theatre that brings together different perspectives and artistic experiences, inviting audiences to explore new theatrical spaces.
