The Golden Age of the Piano

The concert “The Golden Age of the Piano” celebrates the piano at its most monumental and virtuosic — as a solo instrument surrounded by a full symphony orchestra. The great concertos by Paderewski and Rachmaninoff will reveal the Romantic grandeur, expressive power and extraordinary demands placed on a soloist tackling the pinnacle of piano music.

A distinctive feature of the concept is the combination of the roles of pianist and conductor. The pianist will engage in dialogue not just with the conductor, but with the entire orchestra at once, directing the third piano concerto by Rachmaninoff from the piano.
